How to convert Outlook Express emails to HTML files?

Outlook Express stores the emails in compressed format. Therefore, I am unable to compare the backups I have stored in different computers and storage devices.

My idea is that if I store the emails as html files then I can handle them better and I will be free from a specific software.

How to convert Outlook Express emails to HTML files?
You can see if two files are the same via the DOS command fc, which you can run from the Windows command line:

If what you really want to do is save individual messages from your DBX files, you can do that by hand, of course, using File --%26gt; Save As after opening each message; you can also use any of a number of "Outlook Express emergency recovery" programs, such as DBX Extract.

If you want to program this yourself, just open a DBX file in a Word processing program and the file format should be sjmple enough to follow for the purpose of getting at individual messages.
Reply:You should be able to differentiate the backups by the dates they were created. The files are stored as a .dbx file. There is no way I know of to easily convert email to HTML. You would have to use an html program and copy and paste each email and create a new file for each one. Talk about a headache!
