How do i start all the letters at the same point on myspace using html?

im trying to put an acrostic poem on my page but the letters start at different points even when i align left.. what do i do?

type something and then type %26lt;.br.%26gt; but without the periods after the line and it will start at the beginning...it should work. good luck!
